About our publication

Good tools. Clear trade-offs.

ToolClue helps the people behind growing stores choose software for the work that actually needs doing.

A directory built around the work

An AI tool can make an impressive demo and still be the wrong purchase for your store. The useful questions are more specific: can it keep your product accurate, handle the batch you need, connect to the right system and perform the action on the plan you can buy?

ToolClue organizes ecommerce tools around those questions. Product photography is our starting point, alongside customer support, advertising creative, search and recommendations, email marketing and catalog content. Growing Shopify stores are our primary audience; other platforms appear where their support is documented.

What you will find here

Profiles bring together official sources, pricing units, integration methods, plan restrictions and reasons a tool may not suit a particular store. Authored comparisons explain meaningful choices between products. Guides help you prepare a shortlist and design your own trial.

We distinguish a native store integration from an API, an automation service and a manual upload-and-export workflow. We also keep a published entry price separate from the total cost of doing your work. Those details often matter more than the length of a feature list.

Where the evidence starts

Our launch profiles are research checked. We use AI-assisted research and drafting to organize documentation and identify questions worth investigating. This label means the published claims have been matched to identified sources; it does not mean we have bought, installed or independently tested every product.

We do not publish invented star ratings, customer testimonials or performance scores. A hands-on evaluation must identify the task, plan, method, date and supporting evidence. A tested label applies only to the workflows described in the linked test record; it does not establish every feature or predict your store’s results.

A useful shortlist, without an account

You can browse and compare tools without creating an account. Saved tools and comparison selections stay in your browser. They are convenient working lists, so keep a share link or your own notes if you need them on another device.

The finder uses documented attributes and fixed matching rules. It explains why a product appears and what still needs checking. It is a starting point for a buying decision, not a guarantee that a tool fits your entire budget or technical setup.

Help improve the record

Software changes quickly. If you spot a changed price, a missing restriction or an integration we have described incorrectly, send the affected page and an official source. Tool suggestions go through the same evidence requirements as existing profiles.
