Privacy, in plain language.
What this site stores, why it stores it and how to make a request about your information.
Browsing and browser storage
You do not need an account to browse the public directory. Saved tools, comparison selections and your colour-theme preference are stored locally in your browser. They are not a synchronized account or a server backup. Clearing this site’s browser data removes those preferences; private browsing and storage restrictions can prevent them from persisting.
Filter and comparison share links can contain selected tool slugs and other choices in the URL fragment. Anyone you send the link to can read those choices. Avoid putting personal or confidential information in a directory search or share link.
Information you choose to submit
When contact and tool-submission forms are enabled, they collect your email address, your message, an optional name and the tool or page details relevant to the request. We use this information to review suggestions, investigate corrections and reply. A form submission does not subscribe you to marketing.
When newsletter signup is enabled, we store your email address, confirmation and subscription status, consent record and related timestamps. Signup requires email confirmation. You can unsubscribe through an available unsubscribe link or contact us. Please do not submit customer records, passwords, financial information or other sensitive data.
Usage measurement and security
The application supports aggregate daily counts of actions such as searches, filter use, comparisons, saves, profile views and outbound clicks. Its aggregate event records contain the action name, page, optional tool slug and count. They do not contain your search text, email address, IP address or an individual user identifier.
The hosting and security layer still processes technical request information, including IP addresses and browser information, to deliver the site and prevent abuse. Forms use Cloudflare Turnstile when enabled; request rate limiting also uses network information. This is separate from the aggregate event table. We do not claim that browsing produces no technical logs.
Service providers and external sites
Cloudflare provides hosting, application data storage and security for the deployed site. Resend is used for confirmation, operational and newsletter email when these services are enabled. They process information needed to provide those services and may process it in countries other than your own.
Vendor websites and affiliate networks have their own privacy and tracking practices. Following an external link takes you outside this site. The funding disclosure states the current affiliate link status, and any approved relationship is identified beside the relevant link. Provider privacy policies are linked below.
How long information is kept
The configured maintenance process deletes resolved, rejected or spam submissions 90 days after their last update. Unresolved requests remain available for review. Expired, unconfirmed newsletter records are removed seven days after the confirmation token expires. Aggregate usage records are kept for 90 days.
Confirmed newsletter records remain while you are subscribed. An unsubscribed record may be retained to respect that choice and prevent further sending. Successful email queue payloads are erased after delivery; completed queue metadata and failed deliveries are removed after 30 days. Hosting and email providers may maintain their own records under their retention policies.
These periods describe the application’s configured cleanup. Copies in provider backups or records required to handle an active dispute or legal obligation may have a different lifetime.
Your choices and requests
You can clear browser-stored selections at any time using your browser settings. Use an unsubscribe link to stop newsletter delivery. Contact us to ask about access, correction or deletion of information you submitted; include enough context to find the record, without sending sensitive identity documents unsolicited.
We may need to verify that a request concerns your information. The rights available to you depend on the law that applies to your situation. Publisher and contact details appear below when configured. Changes to these practices will be reflected in this notice and its update date.
