Our editorial method

How we research tools.

Clear evidence labels, specific plan notes and visible uncertainty help you judge what a recommendation can support.

Start with a merchant’s task

We include tools that address a recognizable ecommerce workflow and have enough public information to describe it responsibly. We look for official product documentation, pricing pages, support articles, integration listings and terms. A vendor’s marketing claim can establish what the vendor offers; it does not establish how well the product performs.

Each profile identifies who might shortlist the tool and who should look elsewhere. Those editorial judgments follow from the documented workflow and restrictions. They are not measured performance rankings. We do not claim that the directory covers every available product.

Read the evidence labels literally

Research checked is our launch status. The listed documentation was inspected on the displayed date. That date is a record of a check, not a promise that the vendor has remained unchanged since then.

  • Research checked: claims matched to linked documentation; no independent performance result is implied.
  • Tested: reserved for work with a stated method, plan, date and supporting evidence. The linked test record defines what was evaluated.
  • Vendor reported: a claim attributed to the supplier that has not been independently established.
  • Not confirmed: the available documentation did not resolve the claim. An unknown capability is not the same as an unsupported one.

Separate capability, plan and integration

A supported capability has affirmative documentation. A conditional capability needs a particular plan, configuration, integration or other restriction. Unsupported requires evidence that it is unavailable; silence becomes unknown.

We distinguish native integrations, APIs, automation services and upload/export workflows. A platform logo alone does not establish every possible action. Reading an order does not prove an agent can issue a refund, and publishing an asset does not prove the product manages a live ad campaign.

Compare billing units before prices

We record whether a price is monthly, annual, usage based, quoted or included with another subscription. Credits, exports, messages, conversations and resolutions are different units. Annual discounts stay visibly tied to their commitment.

Numeric monthly price filters use explicitly documented USD monthly entry prices. Prices with unconfirmed currency, usage calculations or quotes stay in a separate group. An included option can still require an existing platform subscription. None of these filters estimates your complete bill: required upgrades, overages, seats, contacts, implementation, tax and other services may add cost.

How the finder orders a shortlist

The finder starts with the selected task, then applies fixed rules to documented platform connections, entry pricing and requested capabilities. Confirmed native connections and supported capabilities add weight. Conditional, unknown or unsupported details produce caveats; uncertain pricing can be included or excluded by the reader.

The matching calculation does not use commission rates. It is not a quality rating or a measure of expected revenue. Read the reasons and checks beside each result, then compare the required plans before starting a trial. Alphabetical ordering resolves equal matches.

What independent tests will need to show

For photography, a useful test uses the same source products and output requirements, preserves all attempts, and records product fidelity, accepted exports and time spent correcting results. Cost per accepted image is more informative than cost per generation alone.

For support, the evaluation must use a defined set of policy, order and exception scenarios. It should distinguish correct answers, authorized actions, safe handoff and failures. We will not present vendor success claims as our own test results. Our current guides describe proposed evaluation methods, not completed experiments.

Updates and commercial independence

Corrections and new evidence can change a profile or recommendation. We prioritize material price, capability, availability and integration changes. We update the research date when the relevant source check is performed, rather than automatically refreshing every page date.

Affiliate eligibility, commission size and a vendor’s willingness to pay do not determine the findings. Commercial links require approval before activation and a disclosure near the recommendation. We retain useful non-affiliate alternatives. See the funding and corrections policies for details.
